The A# augmented chord is usually written A#aug and uses the notes A#, C## and E##.

Seen from the other side, Bbaug names the same sound with the opposite accidentals. None of the 3 voicings uses an open string, so every one is fretted, one of them with a barre. Spelling it correctly takes C## and E##, which is why the same sound is also written Bbaug. The augmented triad is symmetrical, so only four different ones exist, and each can be named from any of its three notes.

A#aug is spelled A#, C## and E##. That is the root, a major third and a raised fifth. C## sounds like D and E## sounds like F#, so the pitches are A#, D and F#.

Why does A# augmented use double sharps?
